You might be interested in the Financial Section on this site. Banks, like Building Societies, often have a restricted range of services - and are notoriously conservative when investing your money. This usually results in very low rates of return. Our financial section covers other Financial Institutions, Mortgages, Investment Consultants, Credit & Finance Companies - and Crowd Funding!

Banks

HSBC

92 Sycamore Rd, Amersham HP6 5EW, UK – 0345 740 4404

Staff friendly and helpful enough but was closed on Saturday when I turned up despite the Google hours saying open until 2pm on Saturdays. HSBC Amersham need to update their google listing urgently.

Usually quite and helpful staff members

Lloyds Bank

79 High St, Chesham HP5 1DE, UK – 0345 300 0000

Closes at 4:30 Not 5pm

Nationwide

75 The Broadway, Chesham HP5 1BX, UK – 0800 554 0317

A very small branch in the heart of the town. The door is step free, then two steps up inside. There is a platform type wheelchair lift inside if needed, although I doubt it's suitable for prams. There is counter service and a cash point available inside and outside. There is also a computer terminal available for doing online banking if you need it. It seems quite a quiet branch, which is probably as well, as there's not a lot of space inside. I didn't need to speak to anyone while I was there, but have heard from others they are a friendly bunch. If you like cosy banking, this is the place for you.

Building Societies

Skipton Building Society - Little Chalfont

5 Nightingales Corner, Little Chalfont HP7 9PY, UK – 01494 765661

Very friendly staff. Hannah answered all our questions and anything she was not sure of found the answer for us. Has a Village bank type feel.

Skipton Building Society - Chesham

12 Market Square, Chesham HP5 1ER, UK – 01494 782575

I was worried at first when they took over the Chesham Building Society. I needn't have bothered. The service is still excellent, in some ways better. My advice, forget the banks, put your trust [and money] in the Skipton.

Amersham Dental Care

146 Station Rd, Amersham HP6 5DW, UK – 01494 725111

My family and I are very happy with Dr Williams, our Dentist at Amersham Dental Care. She is excellent with the kids, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. Highly recommended.

I have been using Amersham Dental Care since it opened. I'm an NHS patient. I have always had the best care and attention. Reception are ALWAYS particularly helpful, friendly and very professional. Dr Williams is superb, who doesn't love a dentist who sings, especially if they're Welsh. Keep up the terrific work ADC!!

Water Meadow Surgery

31A Red Lion St, Chesham HP5 1ET, UK – 01494 782241

Best I have ever experienced

We changed our doctors from another local one. Since moving to Water Meadow we have had nothing but excellent service. Main thing is the reception staff are polite and friendly, unlike our other doctors.

Little Chalfont Surgery

200 White Lion Rd, Little Chalfont, Amersham HP7 9NU, UK – 01494 762323

On a Monday morning which is busiest time of the surgery I asked for urgent appointment and they arranged to see the GP within 20 minutes. While the GP was seeing me asked me, “how is my husband?” I told the GP that my husband also has high temperature, while I was in the room, the GP called my husband and told him to come to the surgery immediately and my husband seen by the GP very much within 20 minutes. What else can we ask? It is State-of-the-Art Surgery!

Amersham Health Centre

Every doctor I have seen at this practice (for myself and my children) has provided absolutely excellent care and we have received the help we needed on every occasion. Very grateful. Thank you.

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Was quick fast service, friendly helpful staff... car park is outdated, no use of new £1 coin.... this is a real issue as old coins are becoming scarce... get with it NHS....

I can't say how amazing the guys working here were! They went out of their way to help me and my husband unload the car and were full of fun and laughter! It's not usually the highlight of my day taking rubbish to the tip but these guys completely changed that and had me laughing and joking and actually looking forward to seeing them again on my next rubbish run. Thanks guys you rock!

I arrived to-day at 5.30pm at the London Road Household Waste centre to find it closed. The Website clearly shows it open till 6.00pm to-day (Friday the 13th Oct). I had a load of grass cuttings which I dumped by the gates, as I assumed the employees had temporarily closed the gates and intended to open them again soon. Why do you shut the gates during opening hours?

What fantastic service! Office so helpful and skip delivered promptly! Who could ask for more!

Great service and have used many times. Very polite and friendly

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Amersham

The Artichoke

9 Market Square, Amersham HP7 0DF, UK – 01494 726611

The staff was very accommodating and friendly from the point which we arrived. Each dish was very well presented and thought out. We have an eight course tasting menu. it held its own next to you some of the Michelin restaurants which we have visited. Front of house stuff is fully French, and the restaurants had an air of elegance. The one sommelier was wonderful, opposed to doing a full wine flight we went for a large glass each. He helped us figure out exactly which flavors would be to our likings and best accompany the entire meal. He really knew his wines! A little work could be done on their cocktail making skills. This was the one area which my husband and I were slightly disappointed and confused. Luckily the cocktails were not representative of the meal which followed.

Let me start by saying that for the last 4 years this has been our favourite restaurant, so much so that we always have the same table, and it's even where I proposed to my (soon to be) wife. Having visited 4 - 5 times a year I feel were have had a good variety of the menu over the years, and the food remains brilliant to this day. What has changed though it the level of service, which has gone from such a personal and close connection to what felt like just general table service. The staff were all polite and professional, but it wasn't the same. The level of care, the small touches like redressing a crumpled napkin, and showing interest in the customers, etc has faded over time. What struck me the most though during our recent visit was not only have the prices increased, but we recieved less for our money. - No petite fours with tea/coffee which has always been standard. - Cheese plate had only three cheeses, reduced from the previous four or five selection. No berries, grapes, celery etc. - My dessert (the Blueberries) was a huge let down, especially when compared to the beautiful tortes and soufflaits I've had in the past. This is not to say that the foot was not delicious, the octopus was a real highlight, but the overall experience just lacked the spark which I had always felt in being there. Not sure if this was an off day, or the general new direction of the restaurant. Feel terrible for giving this feedback, but hope the owners will take it as a way to address concerns, and not to mark down on what has always in the past been a great experience. Nick

Rumbles Pantry

Restaurant Village Mangal

13 Hill Ave, Amersham HP6 5BD, UK – 01494 729055

great food, always fresh and great value. Serve bread, sauces and balsamic type onions complimentary so careful with a starter. Usually have the chicken shish which is delicious with fresh salad and rice but all food freshly cooked and tasty. Staff great as well, book as usually busy.

While walking in the heavy rain one night last week, I stumbled on this restaurant by chance. Needed to sit out the rain somewhere, I went in and, so as to be polite, I ordered a small takeaway. The staff were very courteous, despite my soaking wet shoes. At home, I found the food was excellent; a real treat. So I give it 4 star and a bit. I felt the £19.99 was a bit dear for what I had - but who cares about money when you're having fun. ****/*

The premises are well looked after and very clean and organised. There is parking in the premises so no need to park in the road. Beautiful flint clad building.
